Choose for how you cook

Note how many people use the kitchen, your shopping habits and regular meals. If the oven is rarely used, extra functions may matter less than a convenient dishwasher or better layout. Frequent cooking may change those priorities.

Keep a short list for each appliance: three essential requirements and a preference or two. This makes comparisons easier without letting programme counts or promotions direct the whole project.

Useful comparisons for each appliance

ApplianceQuestions to ask
FridgeWhat usable capacity and organisation do you need? Integrated or freestanding?
DishwasherHow do you load cookware? What are its declared noise and consumption?
OvenWhat do you cook and which functions will you use?
HobWhich cookware and zones do you need? What connections does the model require?
ExtractorIs there an external outlet? What configuration and care will it need?

Ask for full model references. “Appliances included” does not let you compare without knowing which products and how they will be installed.

Appliances and furniture must fit together

External size does not describe the complete installation space. Review the model’s documentation, ventilation requirements and front integration. A tall unit needs to be designed around actual appliances rather than an approximate image.

Tell the designer early about anything you are keeping. For a freestanding fridge, check door movement and access to internal drawers. Review a dishwasher opening beside a circulation route or corner.

Energy labels and noise

The EU dishwasher label uses A–G and shows energy per 100 cycles, water per cycle and noise, among other eco-programme information. Its QR code leads to the model’s EPREL information. Compare similar capacities and intended use.

Do not apply one category’s letter to every appliance or turn label figures into a monthly cost without considering your use. In an open-plan room, review declared noise and the conditions it represents.

Extraction or recirculation

Extraction sends air outside; recirculation filters it and returns it to the kitchen. Choosing requires a review of the room, ducting and appliance system. Recirculation does not remove the need to ventilate the property.

Ask which filters and accessories are included, their maintenance and how they are accessed. The hood’s shape is only part of the choice: the planned route and installation matter too. Connections and associated work should be agreed with the responsible professionals.

Agree a clear selection

Compare two sets using the same priorities, references and services. Check delivery, any included fitting or connection, and product care and warranty documentation. Availability and forecasts are confirmed when preparing the order.

A COSTAHAUS proposal should identify appliances so you can assess the complete kitchen. Choosing them in time helps coordinate openings, fronts and worktops within the design.
