Keep the product reference
Keep an invoice or specification naming the brand, reference and finish. “White with veining” describes an appearance, not a cleaning method. Save the fitting handover instructions and the fabricator’s contact details as well.
If the surface is unknown, gather photographs and documentation before trying an aggressive product. For a persistent mark, identify its cause and how long it has been there; that information is more useful than repeatedly changing cleaners.
Build a simple routine
Remove food residue and begin with the gentle method in the product guide. Rinse where instructed and dry to avoid residue. Use a clean cloth and make sure the cleaner is suitable for both the material and its finish.
Do not transfer worktop instructions automatically to cabinetry. Fronts, joints and fittings are separate components. Different finishes within a material family may also need different treatment.
What to check for each surface
| Surface | Care point to confirm |
|---|---|
| Laminate | Keep joins dry and protect the surface during use. |
| Mineral surface | Compatible cleaners and product-specific thermal protection. |
| Porcelain or sintered surface | Finish instructions, edges and manufacturer precautions. |
| Natural stone | Existing treatment and care for the particular stone. |
Natural stone does not have one universal sealing schedule. Sensa, for example, has its own treatment and instructions. Check the specific surface before applying an impregnating product.
Heat, cutting and stubborn marks
A chopping board and suitable protection for hot cookware are easy habits to establish. Exact use conditions differ by product, thickness and installation, so follow your own worktop documentation.
Before tackling a stubborn stain, check the specific method rather than scrubbing harder or leaving a product on longer. Do not mix cleaners or guess contact times. Avoid online remedies that do not identify the material being treated.
When the fitting needs attention
An open joint, leak or moving piece is not a cleaning problem. Remove standing water, document the area and contact the installer or fabricator to inspect the detail.
At handover, request separate guides for the worktop, cabinetry and appliances. A small maintenance folder helps you care for the products you bought and makes an issue easier to resolve without guessing their identity.
