Finish and material are separate choices

Two matt fronts can use different materials and manufacturing processes; the same applies to gloss. Ask for the front reference, composition and finish rather than comparing those two words alone.

Thickness, edges and manufacturing details matter too. A colour sample helps, but viewing a complete door gives you a better idea of proportions and finishing details.

Gloss cabinetry cannot replace a well-planned lighting scheme. Cabinet volume, circulation and contrast still matter in a small kitchen.

Avoid simple promises about fingerprints

There is no universal answer to which finish shows fewer marks. Colour, treatment and lighting matter. Some references have anti-fingerprint properties, so ask whether the exact product you are considering includes them.

Follow the front’s care guide. nobilia advises mild cleaners intended for cabinetry and avoiding abrasives or solvent-based products. Do not automatically use the same cleaner as you use on glass or the worktop.

Combine it with worktops and handles

Choose either a consistent appearance or an intentional difference in texture. Try a plain front beside a patterned worktop, or a quieter surface beside a timber-effect front. If both have strong patterns, check that they belong together.

Include the handle or profile in the samples. Reflective metal or a dark channel can change how the front appears. Small components belong in the scheme and should be decided before finalising it.

Make a useful comparison

Place two samples vertically and view them from the entrance, preparation area and living room. Compare daylight and artificial light. Check their appearance after ordinary use, following the approved care instructions.

Choose around atmosphere, comfort and budget rather than assuming a finish is always more elegant or durable. The named front and finish should be clear in a COSTAHAUS proposal so you know what you are comparing.
